Uscla Desarmes is a multi-talented singer whose love for music at a young age has paved the way to success in the industry today. “Growing up in Haiti for the first 12 years of my life, a few artists like Coupe Cloue, Nana Moscouri, and influences of miner RaRa which my Protestant mother did not like, stood out to me. I’m in love and influenced by great music from all walks of life.” As Uscla got accustomed to the states, his tastes shifted more towards R&B ballads as artists like Luther Vandross had spots on his playlist.
To aspiring artists, Uscla leaves the following: “Love your art, and the rest will follow.”
As a successful singer, Uscla walks us down memory lane of his first-ever recording. “My first release (Love2Dance) was December 23, 2020. My first recording was done in August 2020, at DML recording studio in NJ (a song title Gouye) on a sort of a daring situation from producer Dany Mozart L’aporte. I was getting music prepared for upcoming movie projects, and while discussing our plan of action, he asked me to sing for the projects. I declined because my confidence was low. He told me that if he was on a plane with me that was going down, he knows I’d be the type of person to jump in the cockpit and try to save everyone”. This same guy works with some of the best in the music industry, like Mary G Blidge, Usher, Rihanna, etc. I felt positively challenged, went inside the booth, and started singing.”
The music industry can be one of great trials and tribulations as artists work hard to get to where they want to be. “This world is difficult because it gives back so much. It’s a process to be good/great. I go hard for anything I love, so there’s no frustration for me, just learning curves to being successful in the music game.”
Uscla is optimistic about what his future as a musician holds.
Away from the mic, Uscla is involved with other passions that allow his to express his creativity and act on his other interests. He describes himself as a prism of a person in expression. “I’m a filmmaker for films like “Life Outside Of Pearl” starring Haitian actor Jimmy Jean-Louis. I’m also an Herbalist/Cytologist who has developed a systematic way of rebuilding the body from any condition besides broken bones. I sing to raise awareness and gain support to open these spas I’ve been working on for years to help better humanity from the USA to Haiti and the rest of the world.” Uscla’s passion for giving back to his home country shines through all that he does.
COVID has been an adjustment for the music industry, but Uscla approaches the pandemic with a positive mindset: “It’s just a whole new cup of life.” Uscla is focusing on building his platforms on social media, creating a website and podcast coming soon! His many endeavors can be seen on Spotify, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube as Dezvelkito.
